– If canceled within 60 days of arrival 100% of the cost of the booking will be charged.

We strongly recommend all guests purchase travel insurance to cover cancellations, disruptions to travel and weather related delays.

Redoubt Mountain Lodge is not responsible for any delays, extra days at lodge or cancellations due to weather. This includes disruptions to other travel throughout Alaska. Redoubt Mountain Lodge and its partners will make every attempt, within safe operating procedures and regulations, to remain on time and not subject guests to substantial delays, lost or extra days at lodge or trip disruptions.

Please know weather delays & lost days (outside of our control) do happen. Please keep your day flexible. This allows for time in the event float planes are delayed due to weather. Although not common, overnight weather delays do occur. Historically, we have 2-3 days each season where guests of RML are unable to arrive/depart from lodge due to weather. There is no refund for days lost at lodge due to weather preventing planes from accessing our location. There will be a charge of $400 per person if you have to stay overnight due to weather.

The see a bear or half your money back guarantee for July and August does not apply to Redoubt Mountain Lodge Tours. It only applies to Big River Tours.

While we can’t guarantee sightings of any kind, many of our guests get the opportunity to see different types of birds, moose, wolves, otters, beavers, seals. As for bears, you can expect brown bears, but you might also see black bears – so be on the lookout!

You don’t need much – just be sure you check the weather and come prepared for anything. We recommend bringing a rain jacket even if it looks like it’s going to be good weather – you never know in Alaska! And most importantly, don’t forget your camera!

Dress in layers as it could be really cool if it’s cloudy. If the sun comes out it can get hot. Bring your own snacks and drinks. A small lunch cooler or backpack is allowed. Please no big coolers.

We do all of our bear watching from a boat just a few feet offshore – this is the safest way to view the bears and is less disruptive to the wildlife.

Watching from the boat gives visitors a unique view of Alaskan bears in the wild. Plus, shooting photos offers you the great backdrop of the mountains, glaciers, and forests of the West side of the Cook Inlet! Only a few fly-out bear viewing operators on the Kenai Peninsula offer boat-based viewing, and our visitors love it!
